Ebony Taylor-Asbury
My name is Ebony Taylor-Asbury.
I am a junior at Virginia State University, majoring in psychology. I'm a dedicated hardworking person committed to any task that I undertake. My goal in life is to make a difference in the lives of young children by helping them to overcome obstacles and to teach coping mechanisms in order to deal with everyday life situations.
I graduated from Montclair High School in 2006. While in high school I was very athletic. I played basketball, volleyball, and I was apart of the drill team. I also joined a program called AVID (Advanced Via Individual Determination) which prepares high school students for college level courses. It also teaches the student financial and time management, and helps students to improve their study skills.
I'm currently employed by The Family Center of Montclair in Verona. I am a counselor who communicates individually and in group sessions with children and adolescents who have special needs or are psychologically impaired. My job is to help them to face different circumstances that they have had which allows them to better understand themselves and move on with their lives in a positive direction.
After I finish college, I plan to continue by education by going to graduate school and to hopefully one day have my own psychotherapist office.
